STORY STITCHES, STORY BOMBS, WALLHANGINGS
Each tells a story about my life. I am expressing myself through yarn and stitches.
Light in the Darkness
Story Stitches series by Queen Babs "LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS".
Acrylic yarn on gum tree branch.
When things seem very bad, you need to find a way to cope, a way out of darkness and into the light. This crochet wall hanging "Light in the Darkness" is yarn becoming my expression.
I fight pain, depression, guilt, feelings of being a burden and a despair that maybe I am getting worse, or that maybe this is all there is in my life. To cope I focus with intensity on some new patterns or works as I pour myself into my art.
My other light is the people who care about me and show it. In small ways people help you with kind wishes, texts of support, understanding, kindness and help. They show they care. Thank you. It helps more than you might ever understand.
I have stitched my story. There is darkness and light, bumps, gaps, colour and strands twisting together to create a stronger whole. I am proud to turn my bad into good, my pain into art, my life into something positive.
Don't give up. Find your light in the darkness my friends.
Wishing you happiness,
Jane

Bonds of Friendship
Story Stitches series by Queen Babs "BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP.
Acrylic yarn on gum tree branch.
Sometimes I feel lost inside chronic illness and isolation. Friends I have met and those I consider friends, but have never met face to face, help keep me connected to life. The strands of our friendship burn bright and with a vivid intensity symbolised by the orange and pink yarn. Friends and colour remind me of the wonderful, beating heart of my world.
I am lucky to have met and know many kind and thoughtful people. This is part of that story.

Weaving My Story - Journey to Peace
Story Stitches series by Queen Babs "JOURNEY TO PEACE"
Acrylic yarn on gum tree branch.
Finding peace with who, and what, I am is a journey to acceptance, growth and new understandings.
Pink is an inspiring colour to me, reminding me I am a strong woman and we are all capable of more than we ever believe. It is possible to be kind, creative and find happiness even when faced with great challenges.
I have stitched every step from pain to breathing peace in this yarn. I want my life to be positive, filled with hope and kindness. This is longer than the other wallhangings because it took longer to move from one state to the other.
Creating colour and hope, beauty and inspiration from life is my story.

YARNBOMBS
Examples of my many completed yarnbombs can be found under Projects. There are some useful photos below.
Things to consider in a commissioned yarnbomb -
Style - knitted, crocheted, decorated, tassels, pom-poms, simple, complex, themes, colours...
Size - the bigger the installation, the more time and yarn needed to make it.
- how many, what size, breadth and length is it?
Time - how soon do you need it? The bigger and more complex, the longer it takes. Big projects may involve bringing in a team of
my amazing crafty friends to assist.
Location - poles, trees, columns, gallery, school, etc
- near Sydney or further afield
Installation - do you want me to install it? Is there easy access and nearby parking? Do we need a ladder or crane? Or will you do it?
- do you want it simply installed, or for me to install it as a public visual artist on display, talking to people and answering questions?
- is it part of a festival, celebration, community event?
Ownership/length of use - is this short term or permanent? Are you keeping it or just want to use it for a week or two?
I hope these ideas get you thinking. Here's a few photo explanations -
