Meeting Place Mandala
By Queen Babs IG @queen_babs
Yarn: I used 2 strands of DK 8ply acrylic yarn and a 7mm hook. You may like to use an 8mm hook for round 4 if your tension is tight. Colours: colours of your choice. Finished mandala is 15.5cm wide. Weave over ends where possible.
US Terms
Ch - chain
Sc - single crochet
Hdc - half double crochet
Dc - double crochet
Ss - slip stitch
St - stitch
Back loop only- In round 3 slip your crochet hook under the back loops only.
Dc Spike stitch - You draw the loop up from below the previous round and pull it up to the level you are working on, then complete the stitch. Basically you are working the same stitch as always, but inserting the hook further down.

Round 4
Use very loose tension in this round. You may even like to try a bigger hook. (This is to avoid the circle curling up too much. The mandala will return to flatness in the next round
Attach next yarn in any st and ch 3 (equals 1 dc). Work 1 dc in the same st.
*Skip 1 st, work 2 dc in the next st.* Repeat from * to * around. Ss into the first ch 3.
Round 5
Attach next yarn above the first ch 3 of the previous round. Ch 1 (equals 1 sc). Sc into the top of the next dc.
In the gap between dc pairs work a dc spike stitch into the st you skipped in round 3.
*Sc in the next 2 sts above the dcs of the previous round. In the gap between dc pairs, work a dc spike stitch into the st you skipped in round 3.*
Repeat from * to * around. Ss into the beginning of the round and finish off. Weave in all ends securely.
Sit back and enjoy your creativity!
