Simple Teeny Tiny Butterfly
I used 2 shades (1 colour, 1 black for body) of 8ply DK or Sports weight yarn with a 3.5mm hook.
Finished butterfly is 3cm X 3cm.
Abbreviations US terms
Ch - chain
Sc - single crochet
Hdc - half double crochet
Dc - double crochet
Trc - treble crochet
Ss - slip stitch
Begin with a magic ring in your wing colour. ( Or ch 3, ss into the first ch to make a ring.)
Ch 5. In the ring work trc, 2 dc, hdc. Ch 3. Ss into the ring. (Top left wing)
Ch 2. In the ring work hdc, dc. Ch 3. Ss into the ring. (Bottom left wing)
Ch 3. In the ring work, dc, hdc. Ch2. Ss into the ring. (Bottom right wing)
Ch 2. In the ring work hdc, 2 dc, trc. Ch 5. Ss into the ring. (Top right wing)
Pull the magic ring closed. With a yarn needle sew the ring closed and finish off. Keep a long tail if you are sewing the butterfly onto another item.
Wrap black yarn around the centre of the butterfly to make a body. Tie a double knot at the top of the body. Trim the yarn leaving thread as the butterfly's antenna.
