A while ago I made a flower...
...a new flower pattern for Sabina Speich @sabinaspeich who is running a long term project for people with exhaustion, depression, anxiety or agoraphobia. http://crochetpower.net/english/crochetpowernetwork.html Such was the great response to the idea of the flower that it is being translated into 11 languages so many people can share it. Make a flower and give it to someone who needs courage or who needs to be given support, especially if they are already courageous! Sabina needs donations of flowers or granny squares in cotton or acrylic. If you use this pattern I would love you to send Sabina a flower too… With little kindnesses and reaching out to others we make the world a better place! Many thanks to the Instagram friends who happily pattern tested on such short notice for this crochet flower which I hope gives support to all those who make or receive it. Many thanks to the wonderful people from across the world who volunteered to translate into their own language. You are wonderful! The Courage Flower pattern is available here under Patterns and Tips in English, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Arabic and more soon! With little kindnesses and reaching out to others we make the world a better place! Queen Babs

One minute it was August and now it's mid October...so what has happened?
I hope you found time to get creative lately Yes, its been busy! And so much more to do... I hope you found time to get creative lately, and now I shall get on with some more! Cheers, Queen Babs Three of the tree yarnbombs and one bike rack yarnbomb is complete at the NCIE, George Street Redfern. More bike racks to go... 6 of them...plus pompoms and decorations to add.
I must have been crazy when I thought up this installation. My black and white drawings have come a long, long way. So many stitches by Yarnbombers United have grown to require massive hours of sewing together and then hours of installation. Thank you all for your contribution so far. Thanks to my mum and dad Valerie and Ken for helping out with installing the tree yarnbombs. My mum personally sewed 2 of the tree yarnbombs completely on her own...up and down that ladder, you should have seen it! Fabulous. Soon we will also add the pompoms made by the After School Care program children at NCIE. That will make it even more special and a community art project and gift to Redfern. I invite you to come down and see the creativity and enjoy the colour. Cheers Queen Babs And so we reach the pointy end of the NCIE installation! This week I will be starting classes with local school children in crochet and pom-pom making. This ought to be an amazing experience. I am very excited. A small group of us are gathering this weekend to sew the decorations to the bases and over the next 2-3 weeks we are preparing to install all the wonderful pieces crochet, knitted and created by Yarnbombers United. Lots of sewing to do. So much effort and commitment by so many wonderfully creative people... Thanks to everyone. It is going to look wonderful! Cheers all ! Queen Babs |
